changing coolant

hi all i am changing my coolant today, how long after i drain it at normal running temp should i wait before refilling it?

Ideally until the engine is cold, but I don't think it really matters as the expansion co-efficient of the various contact metals is not that great given the temperature difference at operating temp. ie there is not much danger of snapping head bolts or similar. Make sure you flush the block and heater matrix out too - not just the radiator - and top up after a run if required. Do not run the engine whilst draining either!

undo connecting inlet/outlet pipes. Hose in at one end, drain at other

Engine is cold, take of bottom rad hose, empty out. Hook back up with NEW jubilee clips, and refil. start engine until rad turns on. Top up. AS the system will need more water once rad has turned on when it gets to mid temp.

thanks for the help, i done it today  :smiley:. i changed the coolant temp sensor aswell and it cured my over revving problem aswel  :laugh:. my car now idles great at 800 - 840 and has new g12+ coolant.

well chuffed  :grin:

You'll find that you will want to buy a new coolant bottle too to make it look good lol
