Mines only ever had V-Power since I got it last March, not a drop of anything else! So I'm probably wasting money on the expensive stuff when the normal unleaded would be fine!  :undecided:

....No, you're not wasting money - V-Power has various additives which help the longevity of your engine (so it says on the tin!). VW recommend at least 98 RON as best for the 2.0 FSI engine. It will run on lesser fuels but I, for one, wouldn't want to buy a GTI secondhand that had run on lesser fuel.

Don't worry,  as RR says your GTi is designed to run on 98 RON or better.

It will run OK on 95 RON and you may not FEEL any difference, but your engine is not running as efficiently or powerfully as it can - perhaps around 5%-10% below what it could do on 98/99 RON.

Have a read of this article and you will feel better  :grin:

I use Shell V-Power for the following reasons;

1) I was told to by a certain someone
2) I get Shell points
3) It has been tested and proved to be the best fuel
4) It is near where I live
5) I have a company fuel card so I don't really care how much it costs as my employer pays for it  :cool:

I always use Shell V-Power. If I travel somewhere, one of my preparation moments is to check where the Shell stations that sell V-Power are. But France was a disappointment, they do not have V-Power. Italy has.
You only have Tesco in Britain.

Thats good to know. Want to take the best care of the engine possible, especially as its running on a remap, I'm always checking the oil, even though its hardly used a drop in 9k!

....France does have V-Power - I have had no problem on the autoroutes running full length North-South. Less easy to find V-Power off the autoroute corridors.

I have just used V-power and Tesco 99. The car seemed happy on both. Not tried 95 Ron. The engine doesn't run as clean using it, I read somewhere that it needs 98 Ron for the FSI to work efficiently.
Bye Bye Edition 30

Was at my local tescos this morning but it appears that they do not have 99RON in Northern Ireland yet.

Not sure if this has been posted before? I use TESCO 99 and works well. Here is a link to where you can find it - http://www.greenergy.com/tesco_99_octane/where_to_buy.html

no, it does not have V-Power. What they call V-Power is simple 98. Here in Switzerland we have V-Power 100.
