it is a 55 litre tank, so 55x 1.05 = £57.75

Mines only ever had V-Power since I got it last March, not a drop of anything else! So I'm probably wasting money on the expensive stuff when the normal unleaded would be fine!  :undecided:

....No, you're not wasting money - V-Power has various additives which help the longevity of your engine (so it says on the tin!). VW recommend at least 98 RON as best for the 2.0 FSI engine. It will run on lesser fuels but I, for one, wouldn't want to buy a GTI secondhand that had run on lesser fuel.

using Ron95 or Ron99 or any petrol will not affect the sale price of the car. They just look at the interior and exterior and under the hood.
And is there any way of knowing what its been run on........?

The average tom dick and harry off the street wount care.

....True, but what I mean by that is that if I was buying privately I would ask what fuel had been used and if the owner was truthful and told me 95 RON, I wouldn't want to buy that car. I was just illustrating that a GTI run on 98/99 RON should have an engine in better condition than one run only on 95 RON. I've read somewhere that running only on 95 RON is not good for the FSI.

might just be me but on the odd time I've been caught short and filled up with 95 it seems to drink this stuff like a dog. I am doing the same journey everyday and no way can i do the same mileage on 95 as I do on tesco 99.

what is best for r32?

also my mpg rarely goes above 20mpg which is strange right?

In an R32 not strange if you are doing urban driving. I get around 250 miles to a full tank. Overall average is 23mpg

I would second that! Its a little less if in a hurry that week

Thanks for that. All helps when deciding how  much to spend on the car.
