Mines only ever had V-Power since I got it last March, not a drop of anything else! So I'm probably wasting money on the expensive stuff when the normal unleaded would be fine!
....No, you're not wasting money - V-Power has various additives which help the longevity of your engine (so it says on the tin!). VW recommend at least 98 RON as best for the 2.0 FSI engine. It will run on lesser fuels but I, for one, wouldn't want to buy a GTI secondhand that had run on lesser fuel.
Don't worry, as RR says your GTi is designed to run on 98 RON or better.
It will run OK on 95 RON and you may not FEEL any difference, but your engine is not running as efficiently or powerfully as it can - perhaps around 5%-10% below what it could do on 98/99 RON.
Have a read of this article and you will feel better
