Awaiting Shipment
« on: 31 December 2007, 16:26 »
The dealers rang me today and told me that my ED30 is awaiting shipment    They said that it should be here in no more than 2 weeks! Roughly how long have other people had to wait for their new VW once built?? I know the next two weeks are going to be extremely hard, my dreams will consist of one thing, THE WHITE VW!! Sad I know, if anyone has any advice on how to cope please let me know  :undecided:

I must say the services of Lisa at Gilbert Lawton Manchester have been first class, I ordered the car at the begining of December, she has kept me posted on happenings frequently.

I am quite surprised on how quick the car has actually been built, I have noticed that many other people on the forum have had to wait longer.

I must say I am a lucky boy, the best new years eve present ever!

I guess these next two weeks are going to be sheer hell!

What specification have you ordered?  I was just talking to a delaer last week about getting one of these and I was also looking at a Candy White one, 3 doors, DSG and a few other bits.

Did you manage to get any discount?

Yeah you're right there! I got 3 door candy white with the following extras:

bi-xenon headlights

winter pack

ipod in armrest

multifunction steering wheel

highline computer

I got the standard car for 21.500 GBP which I thought was quite reasonable, obviously the extras were added on to the standard price.

great spec choice
nothing can ease the pain I'm afraid , except getting a golfgtforum fix to soften the pangs

I too chose and bought from GL Manchester based on their attitude. so far they have been great.
Dont forget to ask for the litre of oil (you should get it free )

That's a real nice spec and almost the same as what I'm looking at:

Edition 30 DSG (Candy White / 3 door)
Xenon Headlights
Multi Function Steering Wheel inc. Paddle Shift & Highline
Winter Pack
Rear Tinted Glass
Front Centre Armrest
Smoking Pack (Not that I smoke, but thinking of re-sale)

I'm currently negotiating to see what deal I can get on it so I'll let you know the outcome.

Here's me thinking that the ED30 was exclusive to 2007 (being the 30th anniversary). This must mean they have either done away with the 1500 limit and are carrying on regardless or they haven't sold the 1500 and are continuing until they do. It seems silly to me to have a 30th anni model and carry on selling it in the 31st year :undecided:

Anyway of finding out how many ED30's have been "officially sold in the UK?

I've no idea Hurdy, I'm not sure if VW UK would give out such information?

When I bought my 25th Anni back in 2002 they were all individually numbered (I had #1328) so we could easily track if they went over 1800 units..... with the 30th Anni they are not numbering them so it makes it hard to tell if they are making more than 1500 for the UK market.

In any case I really like the Ed30's and seeing as I've already owned a 20th Anni MkIII and 25th Anni MKIV it seems like natural progression to move onto the 30th Anni MKV.
