I cant see how people go wrong, aslong as you have the wire guide for the mk3, which is on this forum, and the wire guide for ur headunit, which comes with it, normally stuck on it, how can you go wrong, its like snap...!!

Glad its all sorted, nice one

i was using the original wiring loom plug, and an iso connector specifically for that head unit. i just clipped them all together, and there was only one way they would go.

believe it or not, i had to cut and re crimp 2 wires after swapping them,

Thats where the confusion comes in,

I just cut and crimp all my wires, that way i know exactly where i am, so much easier, plus then adding and removing bits etc is so much simplier, i guess some peopel just dont have a head for wires and colours etc :D

if you had used an extension ISO block in there...u probly had the PC4-04 vauxhall cable in there which switches the lives over for u...n therefore not necessary..if it was str8 into the VW loom then thats odd...but most headunit power looms allow the ability to switch power supply yellow n red over by means of bullet connectors 9which u have alredy worked out by now) n therefore that is the answer to which u have discovered
Why pay big bucks when you can do it yourself???

this'll fox you all, I have tried all of the above, switched them round, put them together and as soon as the car locks or the alarm is armed the radio looses its settings.

I was going to run a live direct off the batter but I am concerned about blowing up the headunit?

Suggestions???

Gonna hangout with the wangout

yeah I suspected that to be a problem, I need to get in there with my volt meter thing and double check for a current, maybe run it off the ignition or lighter?

i had to run a feed from the battery in my mk1, just make sure you put an inline fuse as close to the battery positive as you can, should be fine!
