it's done 9000 and the engine's been well adjusted

i can't speak highly enough of this car to be honest, it's pretty good and better than i imagined or expected from the test drive

slightly annoyed about vw giving it to me in the first place with a slight issue but that's forgotten now

 :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug:

I told you it would be good

God how I miss mine

I noticed you lament a lot, illyun....
maybe you should've bought R32 again instead of Ed30, huh?

I've already explained why I didn't go for another one - basically I like the R32 more than the GTI - although there is something to be said about the GTIs nimble handling - and love the V6 engine on the R32 compared to which the GTI engine sounds puny.  However, the fuel costs and higher tax don't justify for me, getting an R32.  Plus the fact that the Ed30 is a limited edition model...

Oh and the small matter of a 75bhp power increase for not a lot of money (relatively speaking of course) swung things in the GTI's favour.

when i come to sell it we can swop  :lipsrsealed:

the way i figured it is as follows

i am young once and i think you get what you pay for but you are paying for it

to quote jose mourinho, the difference between say waitrose and sainsbury's, we have these choices every day and what engine you have is another one of those choices and the engine is the main difference between say the gti and the r32, maybe that might be my next car...........

but long term fast cars will continue to be taxed at a higher and higher rate hitting the man in the street while companies etc continue to churn out vast amounts of pollution so i might as well strike while the iron is hot!!!!!!

i was talking to someone about the one series coupe last week and the 118d is under 120 co2 which makes it a good option and i think most cars will adopt this "green" mentality eventually but for now i'm gonna have some fun................................

hi, im thinking of getting an R32, whats a MPG if u dont mind me asking?
and what do i need to look out for bad/good points?  :nerd:

mpg is between 20 and 30, depends on the fuel and how you drive it and where you drive it

the other stuff, there is a thread at the top which pretty much goes into every avenue about the car but ask away if you have any specific questions.........

City driving  get 14 to 20 mpg (similiar to when out for a thrash )
Motorway cruise or long journey 26 to 31mpg

My overall average is about 24mpg - in and around 250 miles to a tank. Because im in N Ireland I dont have long motorway runs like many of you would in England. On a motorway run I easily get 26 to 31 average speed in and around 80. Full tank on this mpg returns anything from 280 to 350 miles.

GTI and R32 are both amazing cars, simply personal preference which one you go for.

ps Shell - get the finger out and get V POWER over here!!!!!!

It will improve a little..then you hit next March when your road tax goes to £400 a year

Seriously though, I love the R32, I would have one but the mpg and up and coming road tax problem puts me off a bit.

Mine is leased.. So i dont pay the road tax! that comes through the post compliment to VW  And the reason why i drive it like i stole it!

Dont worry I will post the number plate on here when it comes to giving back so none of you suckers end up with it.. its gonna take some pain over the next 2yrs
