I will get her to run it in. She only drove it like that as she was taking her friends out. She rarely drives like that as mine scares her when in vtec so she wont be driving it hard at all.
If cars cannot be driven hard from the start then surely they would not do demo cars  I seriously doubt it will do much damadge but just to be safe i will make sure it is broken in as i dont want to risk ruining a lovely car

intersting point about demo cars but the way I see it with them is that the dealer to some extent 'writes them off' hence why you can normally pick them up for a few quid cheaper. Plus i'd never buy a demo car! just my 2 cents

by running it in properly will ensure the engine lasts for a good long time.  VAG engines tend to get better with age so treating them properly now will reap greater rewards :afro:

She raged the sh!t out of it mate! Sport mode, redline change gear, redline. Seeing as there is no evidence of new engines needing to be run in as they have not hit high miles yet i think it will be fine. The damage wont be visable (if it does do anything) for a long time. There is also a threory that it is best to use engine as they were supposed to be used from the off as it opens them up properly!

From reading around the forums the TFSI engine is sensitive to running in. It seems that if you don't it uses a HEAP more oil than if you do run it in.
Like I mentioned before TT has a good post with regards to running in engines. The pros & cons of running in were discussed there too.

However, I hope your mum enjoys here new car.

Not as exciting to dirve, but i will obviously give a biased opinion towards the ctr so not the best person to ask lol. The gti is a whole steup in terms of build quality, comfort and toys. Cannot compare the engines as one is a high revving n/a and the other a torquey turbo with amazing in gear acceleration. Both brilliant cars different reasons. I am very lucky to have the opportunity to drive both!
