Tested a Mk2 I was pleased with yesterday. If I can get a few hundred quid off the asking price to sort out a few niggles I'll be happy. It pulled well, the gear change was slick and the clutch was fine.
Bearing in mind it pulled well... My only issue with it was that on starting it up the exhaust smoked more than the other cars I've tested. It was dirty blue smoke that smelled like petrol/fuel. Searching the forums I see lots of posts about "stem seals". Is this what its likely to be, and if so, is this a big problem.
Oh, and the only other problem was to do with oil - There was some oil seepage from the filler cap & some on the sump. Also, (this might be completely spasticated of me by the way

) after the test drive, opening the filler cap, there was a little vapour/steam in the engine - Is this normal??
