Mine does about 140 at 5500 yesterday and damn i could see my bonnet chatting with the front where the wind was getting under it!!!!!!
anyone else have this problem????? If so what you recommend? Dont realy fancy drilling the bonnet and fitting catches?

monzablue16v who said that 3rd is taller and anyone who said the boxes are the same apart from 5th are actually both right :grin:

The early 8v GTI ACD gearbox is identical to the 2y 16v box apart from 5th, but the late 8v GTI AUG gearbox has a taller 3rd gear as well as a taller 5th :)

I was starting to doubt myself and think it was a trick of the mind cheers RJ :thumbsup: :cool:
2nd used to be my favourite gear but it is 3rd now :) do it Thom get a late 8v box and swap it, It's transformed mine 310 miles to one tank motorway driving on Monday and it was Varied speeds as well. :laugh:

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08
