Ok the new TT is lighter - but would it work for the Golf? - can you tune the dampers to give the perfect compromise between ride and handling?
Not with your Golf, as I believe (though stand to be corrected) that the magnetic dampers are continuously monitored and controlled via an ECU.
Does the GTI and TT not have the same 2L FSI engine and therfore the same ECU? Me to stand to be corrected!
It
may share the same 2.0T FSI lump, though in a different state of tune, so therefore the
engine ECU would probably be the same. However, the 3.2 VR6 uses a different engine management system to the four-pot turbo!
However, you miss the point. Modern cars these days have around 35 different ECUs, and the body control ECU which would work the magnetic dampers would be completely different between the Golf and the TT.
