I was pondering this last night. It must have been done, what would win?

Straight line drag race.

Time bonus for pedestrians mamed/terrified

My (now stored) golf would annihilate a standard VR. (until it got towards topend)

But then mine wasn't standard.

The VR can pull strong, and has a extra 30bhp and i cannot remember how much torque to haul it along. So standard against standard the VR would win.

just depends on which 16v then ay slick?

i would prob put my money on the vr if it was standard against standard, even though they weigh more there is still a signifiant amount of more power available

Seconded!!!!!!!!

Anyway at the very least a four pot 16v will well out live th vr, mines got 142k on the clock and feels as tight as can be. Alright its had a bit of head work but who hasn't 167bhp and not alot of weight (not to mention handling), me thinks vr6 stands no chance unless you slap a supercharger onboard!!!!
