This is even more pointless then the 8V Vs 16V thread.....even if i did pull on Dubdudes 16V through hatfield tunnel  :grin: :laugh:

isnt this the most pointless topic?? :laugh: comparing standard v standard in a straight line race?

even if you knew nothing about cars and just looked at the standard manufactures performance figures you can see a VR6 is clearly the faster car.

why would a 2.8/9 VR be slower than a 1.8 16v - yes it is surprisingly close until you head into triple figures but it is clear to anyone that a VR has PLENTY more top end power and speed. and yes i have 16v a 1.8 an a 2.0 an i know ppl who own 2.8s an 2.9 VRs.

if the original question had been, on track X which would do the fastest lap then yes that has some relevence and would be worthy of discusion- bigger car bigger engine an worse handling vs lighter car smaller engine an better handling.
