WUR Mod
« on: 01 November 2006, 11:42 »
Going to give it a blast at the weekend...

But need to get a fuel pressure gauge with stop tap and tails.
However what type of connector does the fuel gauge need and what size hose do I need for the tail to to the WUR?

Don't want to to the get the wrong gear!

cheers

there is no need to take any fuel pipes of the actual warm up reg. u can adjust the pressure via the allen key even with it bolted back onto the block

u simply take the main fuel line of the metering head and then connect one end of the gauge to the meter head and the other end to the fuel line you've just taken off.

here is a pic of the setup we used. you can see the connectors on the left hand side. they are just standard fuel connecters.

now I'm confused!
 :embarassed:
so any old fuel line will connect to the metering head? I thought they were "banto" bolts?

Just been out to have a look!
So I unscrew the line off the metering head that goes to the WUR. This screws into the gauge, WUR side.
Std fuel line screws into Metering head and then to gauge.

Also how do you adjust the allen screw with it bolted to the block? You won't be able to get at it will you?
cheers

yes thats all you do.

ideally you want an old k-jet fuel line and chop the end of it & mate it to a piece of pipe running off the gauge - so that you get a proper connection onto the meter head. there is no weird science or anything behind it

and yes the allen is accessible when bolted to the block, get a mirror and torch and have a look!!

I'm struggling!

I've asked at a couple of places and no one seems to offer the threaded t-piece to accept the WUR fuel line! All I keep getting is the other type for flexible fuel line that you use hose clips on!

Any ideas anyone?

was used for reference when porting a head, allows you to see how much you could port a head without going into the water jacket

I see. How big did you want to make the ports!  Ive heard that the 16v head is overported anyway and would run better with a smaller diameter, but thats off subject and probably not even true.

Once you get the needed guage and connections can you let us all know please so we can purchase the same. Ta

@NewStu - far from it mate, a good head job will get you about an extra 15bhp

@rowlers - sorry mate, ive no idea where you could get connectors!

you could bodge one by getting a complete fuel pipe and just chopping it in half then mating both ends to the gauge
