Depends what you mean by 'worth the money'.... in terms of depreciation, the Edition 30 will hold its value better over the long term. If you mean in terms of driving enjoyment then they are different cars that do different things and it boils down to what you prefer/want from a car.
Will the edition 30 hold it's value better than a R32 long term? Don't want to re open old wounds but.
For similar price you get a better standard spec with the R32, you can have leather/recaros. On paper it looks more car for the money and on the road...possibly. Heres hoping for the R concept with 4x4.
I've said it before but as far as the 30 edition and r32 is concerned the latter is thirstier, less agile, has less BHP/Ton and is more expensive.
That makes the 30 edition better value in my book and yes is likely to keep it's value better especially once the government gets their hands into this 'environment' tax.
On another note i signed on the dotted line last week - Silver, manual, 3 door, sunroof, upgraded sound system, xeons. The only mod i intend to do is get the small section on the rear valance next to the exhaust painted black ala R32 style.
Feb / march delivery.
R32 is agile and not to different to the GTI on roads as most of the power goes forward. Whether it will be on track? It was nice to have the car for an hour this time with out the sales man. On the damp roads I drove it on the back end moved around a hell of a lot more than on the GTI and you could feel the power going to the rear wheels to pull pull you straight. It also felt more planted but not as risk free as a Subaru for eg, so more fun. The edition 30 will probably be as fast most of the time though.
I don't give a dame my self about how thirsty it is as the MPG was similar to my morego'd GTI when drive fast. I can see your point as thats why I bought the GTI in the first place but I'm disappointed with what you get on the edition 30 which is why I'm looking else where. ÂÂÂ
Cars don't you just love them.
