MKVI will be ages yet - cars are always loosing money no matter what - even when that comes out that will loose money. I'll keep th 30 ed for more than 3 years so that the loss is not too painful.
The only depreciant car i know is my 65 split screen camper - more than just a car!
Got a 2002 BMW 330d M sport if any one wants to buy it - see pistonheads!
A fully restored 190HP MI16 205 GTI for the fun stuff and the wifes 182 Clio.
As i said takes more than one car to keep me happy!

This is the longest I've had a car in 5 years, just had to tax it! So I'm getting sweaty palms, Evan though very happy with my car. Should keep the GTI really we're supposed to be saving for a bigger house. I think what I need is a 'cheap' projet car....
I know some one who had a MI16 205, it scared him sill so he sold it. Sounds like fun.
Are the Clio's as good as everyone says?
03 210 Seat LCR. Badger5 V2.2TIP, Fordge 007p, Wellycooler, Quaife ATB LSD, Nuespeed ARB's, KW Clubsports, 330mm discs, 3" turbo back de cat and still on the standard map!

I am planning on keeping the Edition 30 for life... it will become part of my collection (currently Mk1 GTI Campaign with 63k on the clock, 1 previous owner and a minter and will be looking for an absolute minter Mk2 16v next year - I have one on sale now, 68k miles but it needs to go) if the R GTI comes out I may buy it separately.  I will probably end up with the following:

Mk1 GTI 63k
Mk2 16v GTI, low miles, > 50k?
Mk5 Edition 30

Mk1 GTI Campaign, Mk5 GTI Edition 30, Mk6 GTI (Coming Soon...)

Ordered my Edition 30 today...

Options:

Diamond Black Paint - still may change it to Steel Grey
DVD Sat Nav plus iPOD connection and Front Centre Arm Rest - may cancel this and fit it separately saving £1k in the process but still unsure about whether I should risk buying stuff from ebay and putting it in the car
Luxury Pack 2
Winter Pack
Cruise Control
Xenon Headlights
Highline Computer
Rear tinted windows from B-pillar back
Autoglym Lifeshine - although I am thinking of getting something else instead of this

I would have liked the option of being able to order Recaros but VW want to be bloody arkward

my previous Mk5 GTI had:
Diamond Black Paint
Highline Computer
Front Centre Arm rest
18" Monzas
Autoglym Lifeshine
B*gger all else..
Mk1 GTI Campaign, Mk5 GTI Edition 30, Mk6 GTI (Coming Soon...)

Not sure how true this is, but i've heard that the mkVI will be manufactured for mass and cost, so they are using manufacturing techniques used by chrysler ().  Also, they are dropping all five door models and giving that option with the golf plus.  One of the many reasons i am getting a 30th edition, which i intend to keep for a LONG time.
ED30 gti 5dr pearlescent black with DSG, xenons, bluetooth, tinted windows, ipod, rear parking sensors, highline....and a huge grin!

Sounds good to me. I personally wouldn't bother with the winter pack or the sat nav but i guess it depends on your needs. How dark are the tinted windows? Not seen one with them...... I'm also getting Lifeshine, what others are you considering?

Also, how did the ebay sale go? So many people seem to report non-paying buyers???

Elbow grease for the shine for me!

Always thought the tinted rear windows made your car look like a van esp. a black one.

182 cup - more fun than an evo - its not as fast as but more fun at lower non licencing loosing speeds as its got none of those make it easy for you electronics!

For second car forget the house - you can't beat a high powered caterham - for me it had to go as big lorries don't see you!

For all those that keep saying they have orderde their cars, have you actually orderded it with final spec etc?

Or just got a deposit down and waiting for date so you put final order in?

The reason I ask is, we have put £500 deposit down to be for 1st allocation, and told when order book opens we can put the other £500 down and spec the final car. Is this right?

I thought it was 2nd Novemeber book opens but read its now 12th December?

I'd agree with Ollieb7 about the evo costs. My brother has an evo VI which is in an incredible car, and very fast (currently 0-60 in under 4), but servicing costs are astronomical, to the point where he is considering selling it. But, it is a race/rally car after all, it's not too practical!
