Many years ago Alpine used to make great ICE. Is this still the case?

The Alpine head unit I've got at the moment is very good, it plays MP3 and WM-AF which cuts down on the disc's I have in the car and its got the bass engine pro which takes a bit of working out but is really good and very versatile once you learn how to use it. All the controls are well placed and easy to use, it does everything I could want without going over the top, in short I'm glad I bought it and think it was money well spent

I think so, but really you need to let your ears be the judge.  I recently bought a Kenwood HU and speakers, as I didn't want to spend too much, but it turned out to be false economy.  They're going on ebay soon.

I would also agree, not only are they very reliable units, i work for an authorised distributor of alpine and compared to your JVC's, and not so much but still sumtimes kenwoods and sony's we get very few back. you also have a brilliant scope for sculpting the sound, particually on the higher end units, you have Timing correction, parametric EQ's, and built in crossovers. however, in my opinion id steer clear of the glide touch units as they just become a pain in the arse.another problem ive come across is the ipod compatability unit that plugs into the Ai-Net connection on your headunit will more often than not only let you select the first 250 or so songs, so not great if  youve got a lot of music on your ipod. they also make very good speakers and Amps, in the speaker range im particually fond of the Type S series, as they are reasonablly priced, and good speakers for the money you pay. however, id also say on the speaker front have a look at the 2005 infinity range, as you can pick it up from online retailers clearing stock very cheaply at the moment, and they are very good performing speakers.

In the sub £400 price range they're pretty much unbeatable, but once you throw people like Nakamichi into the mix they loose their edge. Think the headunits are better than the speakers, mind.

I would agree I have an Alpine CD/MP3 Player and favoured it over the kenwood I previously owned my music dont sound like its being played through tin cans... It also works very well with my Alpine Type R Sub and the Digital Amp M300 also by Alpine

Always thought Alpine are the best and ive had some serious systems!! Alpine head units really are hard to beat! I always think of it as Alpine do nothing but make car audio stuff. As for the likes of Kenwood, Sony etc they make everything from a Kettle to a 60" TV!! Im not saying Kenwood or the likes are bad its just they make everything else too....Alpine put all there money into making great car audio equipment and nothing else!
