question :)
« on: 05 January 2006, 22:41 »
forget my other posts, but

why would a car, go from running ok, to pulling over, stopping, but not turning the engine off, to pulling away with no power ?

it was fine, but then nothing, foot on the floor but only doing 10mph and struggling to do that, it didn't cut out but was close to it.

but i stopped, left car for about 30Min's and it was back to high revs but with power

any thoughs, cos iam getting close to taking her off the road :(

its a driver ain't it? (from pics) mine was the same.. make sure its not firing on two when starting, cos mine was,

have to rev mine until it revs clear as its lumpy at first, and i get that no power thing, even tho foot is to floor,

my lil bro sorted my carb, and just make sure you give it time to warm up, and give it some good revs until it stops been lumpy... (if that makes sense!)

i'll mail ya if needs be! xx

As i have mentioned the not cutting out sounds like the auto choke not doing its job, the no power and then power is a bit iffy. Can't say i have ever had the problem. Might possibly have something to do with the accelleration cable being stretched or possibly breaking in the casing...  :undecided: :undecided:

Have you try-ed replacing your ignition leads mate i had a 1.3 that would lose power for no reason and it turned out to be the leads being fooooked and if your still running a piersburg carb burn the thing Ive had old bms and golfs with piersburgs and they are nothing but trouble get a weber put on and you can have a manual choke that comes in the kit loads less trouble......

you can have my weber for a fair price if you want, its not running properly as its dirty inside and needs a proper taking apart and cleaning out, i aint doing it cause im not at all good at that sort of thing, it should be absalutely fine once thats done, i cant see any reason why not anyway, they seem simple enuf devices???
