vag com

anyone know where if the leads work that are for sale on ebay and if so where can i get the software to use it and is it easy to use I'm asking as my airbag light has come on and the local specialist wants £25 to turn it off then more to fix the problem. I'm thinking it might just be worth me buying the software to sort it out myself as i intend on keeping the car for a while and i will probably use it again what are your thoughts have any of you got or used this or should i just leave it well alone cheers.

Yes i got a lead of ebay and it works fine. you are a bit limited to what you can do with the free software from ross tech, but is ideal for finding fault codes.

Rich, have you tried powering down (disconnect battery) and seeing if this works? This was first recomendation by Audi main dealer when we had a similar problem with airbag light. In our case it didn't work, and we ended up £400 lighter having had a new side airbag fitted.
BTW, not sure if you know, but it is my understanding that the Golf defaults to NO pyrotechnic safety devices when light is on (no airbags or seatbelt pre tensioners) - good because you need not worry about inadvertent bag deployment (scary) Bad because they could save your life.

Good luck!

Mine is from E-bay and works fine . And you can allways find OBD-II software on the internet if you know the places to look .

I'm just picking up the latest VAG COM software and lead. Apparently, according to my mate at work who is supplying me, as soon as you plug it into your car it unlocks the software to a full running version. Will let you know how I get on.

Just ordered the cruise control from VAG and need the VAG COM to switch it on in the ECU :undecided:
