hydraulic tappies

is ther a way of making them quite as it is sounding like a sawing manchine and i dont have the money to replace them yet and the noise doing my head in

if that dont make em noticably quieter then they are fooked  :grin:

The only cheap way of improving them is to flush your oil and put new in with a propper vw filter as they have a non return valve in to help keep the oil at the top end.

Wynns hydraulic tappet cleaner usually does a good job at shutting them up.
Needs to be followed by an oil change a couple of hundred miles later though.

get a treatment called wynns hydralic valve lifter. Tends to do the trick worked in my old valver anyhow.  :smiley:

I used lifter in mine, but i would imagine they are pretty similar, as the lifter cleans and stops them sticking, and also lubes them so they do not rattle. Can't say i have ever seen a tin of cleaner.  :huh:

hmm..think ill go find myself some of that lifter stuff then, might quieten the old girl down a bit  :smiley:
