I agree with all your advice. Just wanted to add that it may not be that complex though. The wire going to the sensor is often badly corroded and intermittent with its signal, plus ive recently had an intermittent sensor too. Replaced/renewed both and all is good again. But yes if your already doing the sump gasket then deffor clean the strainer too.

Mines done 180k and the tappets are getting pretty noisy. Goes off once the engine is warm though.

the oil buzzer will sound when your driving hard if your oil level is a bit low too. this is because the oil gets flung up the side as you fly round corners which makes it think there is no oil in there. this is why people use windage trays and baffled sumps, to stop the oil going too far.
an oil change using vw synta oil and a genuine vw filter for around £16 from german and swedish will sort you out.

if it only comes on when your driving hard then the pump is probably knackered.

if your changing the sump gasket, and the strainer looks to be clean then buy a new oil pump and change it aswell. its only two bolts holding it in!

i doubt it would be a dodgy sensor. as its only coming on when driving hard, signifies that the sensor is doing its job!
