I don’t know if they did anything to the 8.5 or not, but my GTI feels so much better than the 8, in hindsight I’m starting to also think there was something wrong with the transmission on my Mk8!

Still only done about 30 miles so can’t really comment much on dynamics, however it seems a little more responsive? Did they do anything for the responsiveness for the 8.5?
yeah, they implemented "anti-lag" turbo from R20 to all new sports models. (GTI, CS R).

Ah well I’m not imagining it then. Good to know thanks.

I seem to recall a post from Exonian a while back where he mentioned that he preferred a non DCC setup

Yep, that’d be me. The lone voice in the wilderness who prefers the predictability and response of the standard dampers despite the constant attempted brainwashing of the influencers.

I enjoyed the little write up there joet, and the car looks superb under those studio lights.

Thanks! I’m with you though, none of my golfs have had DCC. Dont see the point of it, I find the ride comfortable and predictable.

I don't have DCC and find the ride suits both sporty and more placid driving as it is.  I'm sure I could find a DCC setting for both situations which would be marginally better but I probably wouldn't mess with the settings very often so it wouldn't be VFM. I find the ride very good as it is.

My mk7 on 19’s didn’t have DCC and I found the ride to be both comfortable and yet plenty firm enough when pressing on, my old mk8 was the first car I’ve had with adaptive dampers, I found the adjustability to be a good edition for me, as I do like to set it to full soft when I’m simply ‘wafting’ about, had the queenstowns been available without DCC I may well have opted to not to spec it this time though, but it does ride very nicely, so I’m quite pleased I ordered it that way.

I’d certainly not suggest to anyone NOT to spec DCC, and indeed at around £720(?) it’s a very well priced option for what you get, it’s just that I’d never class it as essential. Unless you do want Queenstowns in which case it is essential!! 😁
I wonder whether VW slip YouTubers and journos £500 for every time they mention it?!!
Joking aside, that brings me to the 19” wheel options for the 265 GTI, obviously the Queenstowns set you back £2k ish with DCC but I do wonder what necessitates the extra £500 or so added to the Estorils at £1350 as compared to the £770 when speccing them on a Clubsport.

I'm still trying to find an answer to the Estorils question and why you can't spec DCC with them. Spoke to my local dealer and they didnt have a clue. Just said that's what the configurator says, as helpful as a chocolate fireguard.

Its because you aren't actually adding DCC when you select Estorils (£1350). You are just obliged to add 'Sports suspension for 19inch alloy wheels' (effectively as a £0 option), which sounds like it is just uprated shocks front and rear (?). If you try to specifically add DCC on top of that, you are then obliged to switch to Queenstown wheels with DCC (£1270+£720 = £1990), Why? Like Monkeymagik, I have no idea. As others have said, its probably a configurator error - one of several.
