Just had it confirmed. MK8.5 GTI Granadilla Black has arrived at the supplier, ready to be delivered early next week. Honestly shocked, thought it would be at the end of the month

Apparently my Clubsport is being built in October... when did VW get their sh!t together and decide they can build performance models in weeks, rather than months?

I ordered 26th Aug was advised should have within 2 weeks, its still at the port awaiting transport

I placed a fresh factory order on 10th August, it is now at status 20 with a confirmed build week of wk39 (23rd September ).

Why the lead time on some customer’s cars is longer than others has always been a bit of a mystery. Spec can have an impact - highly spec’d cars may take longer as more parts / components may be required for the build. This increases the dependency on VW’s suppliers; if a supplier can’t deliver certain parts for specific builds, then that could cause build delays.

Also historically, dealers have been known to accept more customer orders than the number of build slots they’ve been allocated by VW in a given period. If this happens, assuming VW still use the same - or similar - system of build slot allocation, those excess orders won’t be progressed until VW issue a new allocation for the next build period (hope that makes sense!).

Hi. Ordered last week a pure white with black roof, DCC, Queenstown, HK, area view, panroof and a spare wheel. Paying luxury car tax of course, but got a sensible deal on the price and am trading in my 7.5 which I’ve had from new for 6 years. Looking forward to it, albeit I’ve not idea when it will arrive!!
