Depends on how it compares to your existing deal WelshGolf.
Be interesting to know what the dealer is putting in towards your deposit.
Assuming it’s your car plus £1k? 48 months and 8k mileage a year?

I put more money in last time, if I put the same deposit in this time I would be paying the same a month but decided against it.

Dealer has a 2.5k contribution, plus I have a couple of grand equity in my car, plus there is a loyalty bonus so all adds up to a good chunk towards the car.

Base price of the clubsport has gone up 4k since I bought mine so was expecting everything to go up but this “feels” like a good deal?

4 year term is out 8k mileage.

I managed to get £5.5k from the dealer (inc the £2.5k which is from VWFS), give them a harder push!

Yes, similar, I’m getting £6k off and then using equity for my current clubsport on top.

That’s a great deal then, are they giving a guarantee on your trade in price however long the new one takes?

Through DTD or directly from a dealer? I managed 3.5k (inc 2.5k dep con) going into a dealer & they wouldn't budge at all.

I went to a dealer I know and trust and showed him the DTD price. He matched it no questions asked. £5.7k off including the 2.5k deposit contribution

This 'discount business' is evidently still a bit of a (postcode) lottery, with a possible 'loyal customer' factor thrown in. It would be interesting to know what sort of discount you could get for straight cash (no trade in). I suspect very little so the old trick of taking the finance and paying off the whole amount in a few weeks would still be the smart option if you have a large pot of money. If the RRP was more than £40k, you could then put £2k of the money saved to one side () to pay for the extra road tax between years 2-6! However, it would probably still pain you when the annual tax demand drops through your letter box

As for a possible loyalty discount, I recently rang the dealer I bought my GTI from 2 years ago. Yes, they have the sale records, but both the guys I dealt with (one sales, one finance) have both "moved on". Fairly typical for a main car dealer business.

I bought my current car following getting a VIP invite from the VW dealer I’ve dealt with since 2002, so presumably I satisfied their criteria of being a loyal customer. The dealer pretty much matched the best of the DTD / Carwow discounts at the time and offered me a good p/ex on my then current car.

As used car prices were increasing while I was waiting for my car to be built, I was also able to renegotiate a better trade in price for my then car (dealer knew I’d done my homework on what was happening in the used car market). I took the PCP finance to get the deposit contribution, then withdrew from the finance within the 14 day cooling off period.

All in all, probably the best deal I’ve done on any car I’ve owned.

I went in to my local dealer, who I’d never bought from before. I had the DtD quote scribbled down on the back of an envelope. Said I was calling them back at lunchtime, and if they could get within a couple of hundred quid I’d get my credit card out for the deposit.
I think if they know you know the numbers and have done your research you’ll likely get a better deal. If they can pull the wool they will, and present you with the monthly payment as the main figure
