Thanks. I scanned it with Carista last week and it picked up 6 faults - things such as ACC, Lane guidance, etc etc. I’d better give it another little top up at some point. Doesn’t idling the engine for ages do more harm than good though?

Bought this from AliExpress to finish off the engine bay for the princely sum of £6 delivered. A battery top cover. As most of you know, VW stopped putting the complete battery covers on a few years ago, and it had always bugged me that the battery always looked untidy. Well saw this and thought I’d give it a go. Just clips on and seems to stay put quite well. Not bad for the money.

That does look good! Seeing your lower engine cover makes me wish I'd been more careful when I removed it from my old car

That's two of us then! I didn't take too much notice when I fitted it as to how it would come off. The clip at the back that goes in quite deep foxed me and I'm of limited patience. Also broke the clips on my footrest when I had to swap that back. If at first it doesn't concede, pull harder!

There’s a reasonable looking copy of the lower engine cover on Aliexpress for around half the cost of the OEM one, which is hard to get just now, anyway. Anyone know if they’re any good, before I go for it?

Good afternoon

I too would like to have a link to the correct item for a battery cover. Please!  rather than an unhelpful reply of what was posted earlier.

I have been onto Aliexpress and located this item

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32865910702.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.31ad44f84JgOq2&algo_pvid=cd2a1d98-bed3-41a6-92cc-8d535782b64a&algo_expid=cd2a1d98-bed3-41a6-92cc-8d535782b64a-3&btsid=0ab6f83a15891099858215110e641d&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_

but am unsure if it will fit on my Mk 7.5 GTI performance

Regards
Fred
