I interpreted that driving to other destinations was in relation to exercising. IMO it wasn’t entirely clear, so the PM might have meant it’s Ok just to go for a drive. I’ll still only be using my car to go to the supermarket every 7-14 days; seems that’s sufficient use to keep it ticking over at the moment.
I interpreted that as rich MPs are now permitted to drive to their second homes for a bit of a break in the sun without being shamed into resigning.
There definitely needs more structure and detail to the response.
They need to establish the benefit of PPE to determine if people who can't do their job without being 2m apart can be safe wearing PPE while working.
They need find a way to get people back to work safely and get their kids back to school safely when they do. We've had some key worker school provision, but it has gone from 5 days a week to 2 days a week.
Pubs and restaurants realistically need to be the last back to normal working (as we should continue to restrict mass socialising), yet they're among the worst hit financially - I doubt furloughed restaurant staff have had their usual tips taken into account.
