Disappointed
« on: 26 January 2019, 16:33 »
Oh what a disappointment, out for a blast  today I came up behind a new Hyundai i30N , as we came onto a roundabout leading onto a long dual carriageway I took the outside lane and intended to spank him off the roundabout,
I was totally prepared, sport mode , foot planted and off we went , that bloody thing was pulling away from me at an unbelievable rate , we hit 120 and he was leaving me big time . Carried on for another mile or so and I gave up and let him go ...... how embarrassing

I do a lot of track days and yes I can use the performance the GTI PP has but was totally spanked

I haven’t posted this to get lectured on responsible driving etc etc , it was a dual carriageway with no junctions for nearly 3 miles and there was very little traffic .

The post is to enlighten fellow fast car enthusiasts on the strength of the competition out there now ...

I had a play with one a few months back and didn't have any issues in my hearse. Most are around 270 as the lower power ones don't get specced much apparently

The golf is never going to be the fastest production car on the road, its faster than most and as an all rounder about the best at what it does.

Hyundai? You mean this manufacturer:

Loeb is racing with them now and they have some excellent engineers so I'd expect this knowledge to flow into the road car development. I understand what you're saying and I'd never buy one but they have to offer better value to entice buyers. GTI is a package and much more than just power.

I found the interior plasticky and a bit naff in the i30N and the suspension was also rock hard.
It's basically just focused on being fast whereas the GTi is the better all round package, if i was 20 years younger the i30N would be my choice but now i'm in my 40's the GTi suits me much better
