I found the interior plasticky and a bit naff in the i30N and the suspension was also rock hard.
It's basically just focused on being fast whereas the GTi is the better all round package, if i was 20 years younger the i30N would be my choice but now i'm in my 40's the GTi suits me much better
The i30N performance has adaptive dampers so that should help unless you only drove the standard i30n?
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

It had the adaptive dampers but was still too uncomfortable for me, could have got it for a decent price but just preferred the GTi tbh.

Can’t believe it has adaptive dampers! The ride was a deal breaker for me. Unbearable on normal roads.

Don't forget to let the i30n owners know in advance that you will only be able to race in 10second intervals ...

Since when has it mattered who has the fastest car?

Surely if you wanted a quick car, you would have bought something much faster than a hot hatch? No, I'd guess you bought the Golf for it's all round ability and with that is bound to come compromise.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

True but untested! Besides 10 seconds of full power takes takes you to what speed? Backing off speed!

Agreed, you don't buy a Golf GTI if you want a fast car.

That said, I had a small acceleration test on a private road a while ago with an RS3 Saloon (facelift, 400bhp). We both were doing about 75 and he had a car in front, which pulled over and we both went for it. He pulled away, but not as quickly as I thought he would. I saw 145 so I'm guessing he was going a fair bit quicker

TBH, "quick" is relative really. Yes on a race track the RS3 would probably find a second or two on your Golf per lap. In real world terms, not so much as you'd notice (he might arrive at the chip shop say 20 seconds before you do) but in racing terms... you are utterly smashed.

I think that's what people forget... real world vs racing.
