Christ you lot are picky. After 2 years in my GTI and almost 40k miles I still love it just as much as I did when I drove it out of the garage for the 1st time.

My plan is to keep it until I've done at least 100k, something that will be easy to do.

Of course we are picky!.That's why we drive Golfs. We accept only perfection.I bet VW engineers are reading all of these comments and thinking 've hav vays of making Das Auto better!'.
'Evolution,not revolution'.

More likely the bean counters are thinking it's built too well and are thinking up ways of cutting costs....

I hate that on the mk7 (as standard) they ditched the four way controller for adjustable lumbar support and stuck us with the rudimentary handle on the side of the seat. Cheapskates!

I'd add when fully adjusted to the max it exposes a hole in the cloth. Dealer said its normal when I questioned it so I checked other GTI's and he's right.

I've got no hole on mine... Cloth 7.5 gtd...

I find the controls for heating the wing mirrors are poorly thought out.  You have to turn the dial to switch heating on then turn it back to L when finished otherwise the mirror doesn’t dip on reverse (I always forget to do this).  A simple push button (or press of the little joystick) would have been better. Switch the heating on for five mins and then auto switch it off.

There must have been enough complaints to fix it for the 7.5.

I was playing with VCDS in my Amarok and found that I could set the heated mirrors to come on with the rear window heater. My cable is not compatible with MQB cars, so I couldn't try it on the Golf. It has however made the mirror heating switch redundant as it no longer works with this coding change done.

Never had any problems with my previous old VCDS cable on my MK7.....

I suspect yours is not a genuine Ross-tech cable & you are not running the latest release of VCDS...

It is a genuine lead. HEX+CAN bought for my Mk6 Golf and B7 Passat about 5 years ago. I tried it on the Mk7 and the only thing I could access was dial staging. I've now got the latest software, but not tried it on that car in ages.

Interesting find, where did you find it in VCDS? I'll have a look tomorrow with my OBDeleven see if I can replicate it in the Golf.

I think it was in Central Electrics. I'll confirm tomorrow as I have some more coding to do.
