that's the one they showed me, it was put on and then an adjustable spanner on the yellow part near the lock end and it prized (broke) the lock open, this was some years ago so they might of improved them since.      it damaged/bent the stearing wheel a bit too.

With the stoplock, secrete the key in the car somewhere, not on the car key.
This will slow them down even if they have the car key.

Guess I probably shouldn't store it behind the sun visor though!!

There are different versions of the Stoplock bar. The one in the link posted by Arnold_Lane - the Stop lock Pro - is the sturdiest one, that resisted attack in the Auto Express test for 5+ minutes. The other two versions; Stoplock Original and Stoplock Pulsar both only resisted attack in the Auto Express test for 5 seconds.

There are lots of owners on fiestastoc.com that use a Disklok. The main criticism they have of the Disklok is storage when it’s not in use; it’s rather large (and a potential hazard/projectile in the event of an accident) to leave in the passenger compartment in a footwell or on an unoccupied seat, and a hassle to put it in it’s storage bag in the boot.

If your car is attractive to thieves, a good quality physical security device like the Stoplock Pro or a Disklok is likely to deter the opportunist joyrider who’ll probably move onto easier pickings, but it’s unlikely to stop the determined professional car thief / scum who steals to order.

Another cheap but excellent piece of equipment to deter the scum bags from entering your house at night is a LED T.V simulator you can buy them from Argos or Maplins, just plug it in when you are out or in bed at night.
From the outside of the house it looks exactly like a t.v flashing away its very cheap to buy and run and looks like someone is home and watching the T.V.

Nope, not that I want it to be...

Haven't heard anything further from the Police or the tracking company so my insurance company is in the process of putting together a valuation of the vehicle to make an offer.

Did come home to a NIP today for doing 43 in a 30 zone at 03:41hrs on the day the car got stolen. The camera they went through is about 10 mins away from where I live so the theft has occurred just after 3am - good time to strike when one is in deep sleep mode!
7GTI PP DSG - no longer

Will they let you off it given the circumstances? How does that work?
