They look quite impressive, I may have to invest

Not only that but they don't put a hole on your pockets like Yale lock keys.

That's why I recommend them as per my earlier post on this thread...

I master keyed a few of the main doors on my house & have standalone keys for the doors I don't use much...

So now I just carry one of those ABS keys for the main doors which get used....

They also do the master key option on the 1/2 size euro version which fits garage doors....

Only down side is they have a magnetic section which attracts stuff...but turns the key into a multi-tool...

Thanks for posting it up originally - really happy with the quality of the ABS stuff

New anti-everything lock cylinders arrived today - piece of cake to fit and all done in less than 15 minutes for the three external doors on the house

Anything to help delay someone trying to break the locks

Sorry to the OP. This is the one thing that worries me about getting a gti. I don't even want to mention it to the missus.

Does anyone recommend using a steering lock as an extra deterrent?

Have heard that some thieves take extra steering wheels if you have the wrong lock,

Well, well, well. So last night the wife & I went for a beer or three and got home at a sensible time, with lights out at about 11.00.
The beer did it's trick until I needed the loo at about 2.15 a.m.
Back in bed, I'm just dozing off and I hear a noise I can't place. After a moment I sat up and heard some other faint noises. I got out of bed and went in our bathroom, which has a window that overlooks the path down the side of the house. Still hearing some noises I opened the window, looked down and saw the movements of a torch.
I shouted (somewhat loudly), "what the ____ do you think you're doing? You better ____ off!!, etc., etc.

After a moment, he turned and ran down the road. Didn't get any real description of him other than he looked average height and slim build.

It turned out that the first noise I heard was him moving the wheelie bin from in front of the gate where I had left it after collection day yesterday. The second noise was him trying to move a piece of granite propped up against the other gate (used to stop it getting blown open in the strong winds).

Decided to phone 101 and 15 mins later a police dog handler turned up and he did a quick search of the local area. Didn't find anything (this was probably 30 to 40 minutes later) except a piece of discarded clothing which may or may not have anything to do with toerag trying to break in.

So it looks like they are targeting South Manchester now as well.

Think a security re-think is in order!!

Does anyone recommend using a steering lock as an extra deterrent?

I do use a Stoplock and had it fitted yesterday, however if they break in and get the keys, they will also have the key for the Stoplock. Good solution for when the car is left somewhere dodgy but probably less so when parked on the drive.

With the stoplock, secrete the key in the car somewhere, not on the car key.
This will slow them down even if they have the car key.

I changed my GTi for an R was never really concerned about theft of the GTi as I had never really heard of them being targeted.

R is obviously a different story but a locksmith thought our locks were decent and we have an alarm that’s on downstairs at night so probably not much more I can do to protect the house, car sits on a drive but we are in courtyard that’s hidden from the road and we are overlooked by many as it’s the centre of the city.

Hopefully that’s enough for them to look elsewhere!
