Have you had a look at the VCDS user map?
Unfortunately not 100% up to date all the time but am sure there's a few of us up in Scotland too.

If you can't find someone or want to do it yourself - go for Obdeleven as it's considerably cheaper than VCDS and user friendly.

Buy direct from here https://obdeleven.com/en/

The Pro version enables you to do long coding as well as use apps to make changes.  It only runs on Android (I bought a cheapy Android tablet as I'm apple user).  Cheeky to direct you elsehwere but lots of info on the R forum and lots of coding on there too.

I'd second all of the above - quite easy to pick up from scratch.

Had a few instances where OBD11 and Carista can't do quite as much as VCDS. Recently on an A3 (MY17) where it failed to turn on audible locking confirmation. With some stuff they are a little behind in implementing (to do with them needing to implement ASAM data).
Though I'd say it's a feasible and cheaper alternative but would recommend to write down all changes as it doesn't keep a log (like VCDS or VCP do on the PC) so you can revert back to original if you have to or want to for any reason.

You may be right, but in the context of a mk7 Golf OBDeleven did activate acoustic locking for me. Also, there is a history of all changes made which I have made use of. And it's only £40.

Obdeleven is not as feature rich as VCDS, particularly on the diagnostics side, no question about that, but for the money it covers the majority of adaptations and a good level of diagnostics. Well worth the money.

I have done way more on my Mk7 with OBDeleven pro than I ever did with my VCDS in my CC's

VCDS is great if your doing it as a weekly thing or have different VAG cars but if you only have a Mk7 then I'd pick the OBDeleven every time, and for the the extra price if the pro it's a no brainer to get that.

Long choosing may look a bit daunting at first but it is easy as hell if you follow the many guides  on here and other forums and make sure you do a backup first..
