Pedal Box
« on: 25 July 2017, 08:44 »
Thinking of getting a pedal box for the CS as the accelerator response just doesn't feel right at the moment.

Does anyone know the difference between the pedal box and the pedal box plus on the DTUK website?

Also, any decent discount codes out there?

I have to admit I was skeptical about pedal boxes in the past, and even after discussions here with people that swear by it I haven't gone for it yet but after yesterday I'm seriously considering it. So, I'm approaching a roundabout, foot off throttle, 3rd gear, 25mph, there is a car already in the round-about but far enough for me to safely enter, still I don't like upsetting the other driver by entering too late. Now I know already that a bit of throttle is as good as nothing but anything over say 30% of pedal travel is too much for this particular occasion as I don't want to drive that quick and noisy in these conditions. Especially since running the JB1 the "take-off" after that initial dead pedal stage is more sudden than when I was stock. So I try to find the sweet spot, easy first and I'm coming in too slow, then I go a bit harder on the pedal and off-course, vrrrrr.... I blast away with much (unwanted for this occasion) drama.

This of-course wasn't the first time of this, it just happens to be more annoying lately, especially since I don't want to be driving like a nut in urban traffic. But because there is no linearity on the throttle it's nigh on impossible to get the right amount of throttle in situations like this. Am I correct in thinking a pedal box would cure that?

Another issue, does the pedal box have any noticeable effect on stop/start?

None I would imagine, but there is a connection of sorts?  Just a thought.

The pedal box plus is just a new improved version of the pedal box.  It is designed to work with newer cars that have digital SENT sensors such as some Audis. Our mk7's including the facelift still use analogue sensors but both available pedal boxes will work with our cars.  The plus also has a better looking controller interface. Given the smallish £20 price increase, if I was buying now, I'd go for the pedal box plus.

Use code RF80 at top off the product page on dtuk website for discount.  Brings pedal box plus price down to £179.

Yeap, changing the start/stop voltage to 12v makes that utterly pointless and borderline dangerous feature go away for good and you swear less in your daily communte.

Same here. Was the first OBDeleven adaptation done, swiftly followed by disabling headlight washers.
