I've seen ".5" being used for donkeys years. Mostly on forums admittedly. Usually for the Passat and Polo, which have had mid life facelifts more frequently than the Golf.
As for MK8, I'd guess it'd be mid-late 2019 before it's revealed... tricking into showrooms by early 2020.
Yes, precisely, the .5 designation tends to be forum speak yet it's now been adopted by dealers (possibly orders from HQ?) which kind of answers the question of where dealers get a lot of their information and speculation from...
