How do you install these updates? Do they need putting on a USB or SD card and then inserting in to the glove box unit?
I only have a 14gb USB stick and some 8gb SD cards but the Discoverer Pro updates need 23gb. Is there an alternative way of installing them? Do VW dealerships offer any help? It's a pity you can't download straight to the car as when I'm parked outside my house I can connect the car to my wifi.

You need a 32gb SD card, only a few ££ from Amazon or 7dayshop, dealers are not very helpful with updates and will charge a lot of money even if they are prepared to help.

I've downloaded the updates for Discover Pro and I've transferred 50% to the SD card (estimated 30 minutes to transfer the other half).
Anyone know how long it'll take from the SD card to the Discoverer Pro itself? It says on the download page it could take up to 4 hours! I bought a cheap SD card so it's probably going to be pretty slow to transfer.

Last time I updated my Nav Pro it took a good couple of hours to transfer form the SD card to the Nav unit. I think you can update as you drive. Not sure if this is correct, but I am sure my manual recommended I should leave the key in the ignition and engine turned on while updating? Cannot remember as it was a good while ago when I did it. All I can remember was I managed to wash the car as I updated and it continued for almost an hour after.

Thanks - I get really paranoid about battery drain so I'll use it as an excuse to go for a nice long drive and just update it while I'm on the road

I updated mine on my drive to work (15 minutes) it then started off where it had stopped when I finished my work 8 hours later.
So don't worry about turning the ignition off half way through.

It'll transfer quicker if you have a class 10sd card. If you've bought a cheap card it may take longer to do. By cheap i mean slow not in price 😉
