Tilting n/s wing mirror
« on: 16 April 2016, 22:00 »
I've had my GTD a week now and so far so good, I'm really enjoying it.

Just one thing had been playing on my mind, the fact that the near side mirror didn't tilt downwards when reverse gear was selected, I had this on my last BMW and it's really handy as I can see the kerb as I reverse into my drive and don't want to catch the wheels on the kerb.

So I was sat in the car today waiting for the Mrs and I was just having a look through the settings and noticed that the car does have a tilting mirror and the box was ticked to say it was activated, I selected reverse and the mirror didn't move, I adjusted the mirror and selected reverse again and the mirror then tilted downwards, great that's exactly what I wanted but then when when I put the car back into park the mirror didn't raise back to its default position, this can't be normal surely??

The car is only a week old and really could do without having to drive it back to Swindon to be looked at if its a problem with it or is there something that I've not done correctly??

Mirror switch on the door needs to be in the 'L' position for the tilt on reverse to work.

It'll move back to its normal position when you drive forward

The switch is in position "L" now, the mirror tilts back but doesn't move back to its normal position after moving forward, I take it there's a problem with it, I'm expecting a call from the dealer in the next few days so I'll mention it when they call

I was thinking the same..... it only tilts back up if you drive forward at a certain pace.

Sounds like its fine to me - just drive off and it will revert back as long as you have set it up correctly.
