AGG engine revving issue
« on: 05 April 2016, 10:41 »
Hi all,
I have 2x golf cabrio with AGG engines, (97 MK3 and 98 MK3.5) the 97 is playing up!
When I start it, it revs up 3 or 4 times to 2000 plus rpm and then settles down to 1100 and stays there!
I have swapped just about everything from the 98 to the 97, ( throttle body, maf, air intake hose, air filter and body and sensor, heat sensor) the 98 still run fine with the 97 parts and the 97 still misbehaves.
I'm at a loss!
The crank angle sensor has been replaced before.
Please help
Val

That's what it sounds like, it fires up and dies strait away like if using a key without the chip.
Is there a way to get around that?

Try having the other cars key near the barrel so it picks up the chip.
I cant rember how they work but a mate use to have a key taped to a imob ring in his fusebox on his mk2

Other car keys won't help you there.
You can use the keys that fit car, you only need to match immo and engine ecu (no login required for that)

Swapped the ecu's to their proper car and they start again. Problem still there with the blue one.

Swap ECUs and marry it to cars immobiliser (no PIN required and you can marry it to other car again afterwards with no issues).

More here (despite what it says I never needed PIN):

Thanks,
Interesting, but I don't have the program to do that.
