Cosmetic upgrades

Hi all,

Iv been a little quiet recently but am still looking on here nearly everyday.

Iv had my white GTI PP for 10 months now and am still loving it.

I thought I would ask if anyone has done or could recommmend any small comestic enhancements I could make. I know a guy from another forum had his wing mirrors done in a gloss black, Id quite like to add some more black to mine but not sure what people think?

Im not one really to modify anything just wasnt sure if a couple of little things could be done.

Ahh, Ben, you're still around! How is the club swinging going?

Black mirrors look good on a white car but there aren't many things you can do to a Golf on the outside without making it look a bit crap. Bigger wheels if you're feeling flush?

Inside you can fit an alloy footrest and an Audi alloy 12v socket cover which brighten up the interior. Along with foot mats that have a nice red edging in a GTI. Lots of links posted up here recently that I'm sure a certain forum member will have bookmarked and will post up if you ask nicely!

Are you talking solely about external cosmetic upgrades?

I've done a few interior ones, like coloured footwell lights, sill guards, colour coded and logo'd footwell mats, replacement footrest plate, paddle shifter upgrade.  Obviously done on an R and blue colour coding, but all could be done on a GTI too, with red.  Happy to post a link to my thread which details all these things if you are interested, as Exonian has already referred to, lol.

I think Black gloss mirrors look quite good if they are well done. Same with wrapped black roof, front lip etc. But the whole black and white car thing is looking a bit dated now and has been done to death.

Cosmetically all I've done is carbon skinned mirror caps...





Although previously lowered and added some nice wheels too...

Gnasher - I like those, are they just the original covers wrapped? Are they easy to remove and refit and what sort of cost? Reckon they would look great on my TR car.

They are an original set wrapped (or skinned) in carbon fibre. You can buy these (Mine were £100) or get stick on versions (still real carbon fibre) for around £60-70.

Another alternative is to wrap them in carbon effect vinyl wrap - it might not look quite so good, especially round the sharp creases on the top of the housing though.
