2013 GTI Versus 2016 GTI
« on: 17 March 2016, 10:28 »
I picked up my new GTI last night and I have to say I'm loving the move from White to Deep Black Pearl its a real head turner. Having only driven 30 miles to date I have noticed a number of improvements from my 2013 model:

The gear box is much smoother.
The engine appear to be a little livelier.
The sound actuator is producing a slightly more aggressive sound.
The seats are firmer.
The Auto Handbrake is much quieter when engaging.
The Auto Hold release mechanism is much improved.
The wing mirrors expand with unlocking the car and not the ignition switch.
The fuel flap mechanism is improved.

Pics to follow

Yeah as the seatbelt thing used to really throw my kids when they needed to move my car.
My son managed to move it about a yard creating a trench in the stones where the wheels dragged along
Although I naively thought it might fox some dim witted burglars if they tried to steal it

Yeah the black is lovely.

Other very minor things I'm looking forward to (from playing with a 2016 car in the showroom) when my new GTD arrives is:

a) The drive mode select button, you can now keep pressing it to change between the various modes instead of having to use the touchscreen (keeps finger marks off the screen), and

b) when in the "Car" menu, you can now keep pressing the car button to cycle through the "View modes" (convenience consumers, Vehicle status and driving data), without having to press the touch screen.

c) proper display of the DAB logos when in views other than icon list mode (i.e. the icon now fills the placeholder and isn't a tink little thumbnail).

At least that's what I saw in the demo car in the dealers showroom.

There are a few stations that don't present logos can these still be added manually with the new system?

I didn't know the GTI had the sound actuator. I thought it was a GTD thing.
There's no mention of it in any literature that I have read.

Any chance the 2016 car has paint that doesn't chip quite so easily?? I've never had so many stone chips on a car, in some strange places too. Possibly the most annoying thing with this car. My last car only had a few over 12 years of ownership, my GTI has more after a few months
