What Dash Cam
« on: 05 March 2016, 17:59 »
I hope this is ok to ask on here but I've got my GTD arriving next month and I want to get a decent dash cam, I'm just wondering if anyone else is using one and if so what are they using??

I've been looking at this blackvue one http://www.blackvue.eu/Blackvue_DR750LW-2ch.php

I use a Mobius and attach it the dashboard with magnets. It's rechargeable which means I don't have to connect it to the cigarette lighter or wire it in. Go on YouTube and type in Mobius+techmoan.
PP, tints, Chassis Control.

I use the Blackvue DR500GW and wired it into the fuse box. Never had any problems with it and gives a nice clear picture. I have use of another car so got an extra bracket and lead so can use in both cars.

I had a Blackvue 650 system on my car for about a week. For 4 days it worked great, it was nice and compact with excellent daytime and very good night-time footage - then it started making funny noises in use and playing up. Basically it overheated, as many of these do when left on continuously for parking monitoring purposes. It went back for  refund.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I use an RAC05, which has pretty good resolution, plus gives speed camera warnings. Marketed on behalf of RAC by ProofCam, who have been very good at responding quickly to a couple of queries I have had.

Can definitely recommend it - in fact I ended up buying a second one for our other car!

I use a mini 0805 directly wired into the fuse box.
So far so good.

Just ordered a MINI 0826, should be here soon.

I think the problem is that you can find negative reviews for any of the cameras for sale, so choosing the "correct" one is difficult.
Ordered 06/01/14.  5DR GTD DSG, Red. Park Assist | Rear Camera | Keyless entry | Dynaudio | Winter Pack | Pro Nav.

Every time I see one of these dash cam threads I keep thinking "I must get one ASAP" then see so many different recommendations it just confuses me so I never get round to it.
I do like the idea of the camera that can be recharged at home and just mounted in the car using battery back up so it can be used in several vehicles.

If you have one with a battery in it you will only end up forgetting to charge it or leaving it another car.

I had a road hawk HD in my previous car which was good but is too bulky to fit in my golf as I've got the lane assist stuff behind my rear view mirror.

I think I'm going to go for one of these though, it looks tiny. Good quality footage. No GPS but I'm not all that bothered by that anyway. http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2013/7/8/the-mobius-camera-the-do-it-all-mount-anywhere-1080p-micro-c.html
