Thanks, but nowhere near as pretty as Prets!
Winter boots on in a 'low maintenance' colour.

A couple more pics taken on a filthy November Sunday morning in the wind and rain. Kind of sets the mood for winter wheels...

Very nice buddy. You can see the effect the wheel spacers make. Subtle but sweet. However I'm one of those odd-bods who only likes factory fit wheels. Yours are close to Prets though. And as you say, in a dirt friendly colour

Could you explain how the peddle box works? How it changes the character of the car? I'm intrigued. Thx
Thanks
The spacers are off the car now, those wheels are OEM VW wheels with a Scirocco offset which sits them better in the arches. I only ran the spacers with the Cadiz wheels.

Look on DTUK's website for the full gen on the pedal box.

If you've ever driven a car with an old style mechanical fuel injection or a carburettor you'll know how modern cars don't have instantaneous throttle response but are laggy instead. Plus the mk7 has about an inch of dead pedal travel. The pedal box just gives you an instant response when you accelerate which is most noticeable as the turbo spools up at lower revs. It's akin to going for a jog in nice lightweight running shoes instead of tying a couple sponges to the bottom of your work shoes and going for a run...

Some accuse the pedal box of just moving the full throttle position but you don't have to set them up like that. You can tailor the throttle graph how you want it to perform.

I agree they are not as pretty as Prets but save pretty for the summer.  I like them and think the darker colour really suits the Pure White as too much silver could be a bit one dimensional, so a darker tone adds something to it.  But my favourite 18" wheel is a the Rotary (as sported by wigit/mrs wigit, and a couple of Mk6 owners).  I love them.

Car definitely looks better with the spacers. The OEM stance is not great.  If I had the knowledge, expertise and inclination I'd do the same!

And for a crappy November day, it's looking remarkably clean.  You sure you've not been out there in the rain with a woolly wash mitt?

But yes, back to the mileage. Come on!  You've got to start driving it more. I know that's easier said than done when you have other vehicles at your disposal for work etc.  You'll just have to start popping down the (not so local) shops more for Mrs Ex.

These are 8x19's Ms B. Hard to tell from the photos as the lighting isn't great today.
The white is hiding the dirt too, that car hasn't had a bath for a few weeks; it's a lot dirtier than the photos would suggest. In fact an hour after I took the shots I had to go down a muddy track. It looks awful now.

The tyres were taken off the Rondell alloys I had on the GTI, I'm trying to decide whether to reuse those wheels in the summer or clear all stocks and take a different path(?).

Spacers are easy to fit. In fact the ones I had were quite good as they have a bolt that locates them in place on the wheel hub so you don't have to juggle ten bolt holes!
Fitting spacers is no harder than changing to a spare wheel.
Loosen bolts
Jack up
Bolts out
Wheel off
Spacer on
Wheel on
Tighten bolts
Drop Jack
Tighten bolts again...

I'm tempted for my next mod to be spacers, just concerned with getting more locking wheel nuts. Do you think you still need locking nuts these days?

I didn't bother with extended lockers. The nut covers fitted so tight on the nuts they'd need to be pretty determined to get them off as the bolts that came with my spacers didn't have the hollowed out heads the factory ones did.
To remove the nut covers I carried a small sharp screwdriver with me so I could lever it out a millimetre or so then use the removal tool. Not the best explanation I can give but I've been awake about 27 hours now so am a bit jaded!

I like those wheels Exonian, so much nicer than the Cadiz (which admittedly wouldn't be difficult).
What size spacers do you think would be ideal to go with prets? I think the rears on mine would benefit from a set but I don't want the wheels to sit proud of the arch either.

These make fitting spacers , and even changing wheels, much easier:

I've been intending to get something like that for years.
Top of the list of jobs to do tomorrow!

They're not pretty wheels but add a touch of menace that the car is missing.

For Prets I'd go with 8mm front and 10mm rear.
Another 2mm on each axle would be close to the maximum you'd probably get away with.

Hopefully your reading this after you've had a good kip  Your car looks awesome I'm not into white cars but yours may have turned me. Quality piece of kit and the wheels look great and I think we get hung up on extras and the manufacturers know it that's why they charge you the earth for them.
