Would you buy a VW (R) now ?
« on: 05 November 2015, 13:32 »
Im car free and have been for the last 6 months, im tempted by the R but im not sure. Normally i just  buy a car and think F**k it i want it, i work, don't smoke any more and don't drink as much as i used to. But all this $hit with VW at the moment is kind of putting me off for some reason.
Agggghhhhh i might just toss a coin

Just to add its a bit more complicated. Im thinking of changing job, ive got a job thats ok, pays the bills and i can save a bit but im not really enjoying it anymore. I ve been doing it for the last 3.5 years but ive got itchy feet to go back into the Building trade, hence sub contracting, probably need a little van or i could park the R up wherever i work (not very keen on that or leaving it at home)
So do i stick with a job thats to be honest is ok and have a car i like or do a job i enjoy and maybe not have the car i like .

Get the car.  It will have blown over by the time you sell it, and there's some bargains to be had at the moment!

I have a job that I enjoy and no longer feel the need to buy such luxuries. When I had jobs that I didn't like, I would spend money on nice things to compensate for the drudgery of the 40-50 hours a week.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I would say that the majority of people purchasing a car aren't overly interested in what comes out of the exhaust, it goes more like this:

1) How much does it cost to buy?
2) How much does it cost to run?

I think it's unlikely to make a difference, particularly so for a performance model.

In the camp of do it!

The present issues with VW do not concern me at all with regards buying a VW, in fact it would give me more confidence over their governance as they certainly cannot afford new ones after this substantial hit has passed.

Maybe we will get some decent incentives too as they want to attract custom.

Went little safe on the GTD but mainly as mileage was supposed to be a lot higher but all things being even come March then will be selecting an R without hesitation.

Life has to have its pleasures and you pick and choose which ones usually and this is where quite happy to place my extra £
