Just got back from 'Dubfreeze' in Staffordshire.
Saw some great looking vans and a few lovely old Golf's and Corrado's.
Ugliest car I saw had to be the R estate in Lapiz blue that was parked on the mezzanine level. Seriously, what the hell have they done there? It's a minger from every angle and it didn't help that it was covered in swirl marks.
Each to their own I suppose but it is most definitely not for me

Nice job Rebecca, should make a big difference to your R if the throttle lag is as big an issue as I've heard

That is the main problem I have with the DSG box. Be interesting to see if it cuts out the pause between taking your foot off the brake and on the throttle which for me is made worse by me using my left foot for braking in an auto.

Latest minor but very practical mini mod -

Fitted the flexible boot liner today.  Genuine VW Mk7 hatch liner bought from eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221500646373?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Fits perfectly, really snug with no gaps at all - should catch the dirt and mud nicely.  It's extremely lightweight so will be easy to fold in on itself for removal to shake out all the dirt. Don't know why I didn't get one for my last car.

I got one of these for my GTD ready for when I picked it up. Bought from dealer directly though as I was in a bit of a rush... had to take the dog to the vets the day after I got the car. I have another cover that goes over the top of it for when the dog goes in, and then I put his dog bed (single quilt + cover) on top of that... this has saved my boot floor from being covered in dog hair unlike my previous car. Is a very good fit but I feel a little overpriced for what it is, however its genuine VW so that's to be expected I guess!

I think it is quite a big issue, and never had such lag on any previous GTI, so it was a bit of a surprise.  I'm not one for making knee jerk reactions which is why I given it the standard setup the benefit of the doubt for the last few months, but it has steadily got on my nerves more and more.  Pedal box is such a simple but effective solution.  A massive improvement, makes a big difference to the throttle response and the whole car feels like it's been 'lifted', if you know what I mean. When I was taking it out on my test run today, I turned it off for a bit and it felt so laggy, I couldn't switch it back on quick enough!  Makes you realise just how much effort had to go into eliciting a decent response.

It suits my driving style, and feels so much more comfortable to me. And the range of customisation is a real bonus. I chose Sport as the main setting and tried it on the lowest -3 then moved up by an increment at a time until I hit what seems to be the sweet spot for me +1. Works well in Drive but really comes into it's own in Sport and with the paddles.  Such a small thing but with a big impact.

Sounds like a good day out.

Well my feelings about the R Estate are quite well known on here. I can understand why it would be an attractive proposition for some but like you, definitely not for me either.  Practical it may be, but pretty it is not. The rear end is a mess, looks very odd.  And you may have heard that two of the quad tailpipes are fake and not hooked up to the exhaust system.  Makes no difference to the power output and guess it keeps the back consistent but still, bit of a sham.

I don't really find an issue with the pause between coming off the brake and onto the throttle. I've been driving DSG Golfs for many years so am accustomed to it's little quirks and am pretty well practised at eliminating the pause as much as can be, but it will be interesting to see if there is much difference, particularly shifting from reverse to drive.

Yeah I'm really pleased with the boot liner.  Don't have any dogs but carry a fair bit of outdoor kit for work etc, in the boot and often visit muddy sites, so it's already proved its worth in the short time I'be had it.

Yeah well if I'd have known what a big difference it would make I wouldn't have waited 5 minutes either.  You live and learn.

Does make you wonder why the throttle response is so crap from the factory though. No excuse!
