Am I right in thinking that in Race if the DSG is in S mode and you flick the gear lever over to the left to manually control gear changes this also leaves the outer exhaust pipes open too ??

Yep, but they are variable so you get less drone when sub 1500rpm. If you disconnect the flaps you'll hear the true exhaust noise and it's loud!

I use individual now, Race for Engine, Steering and Suspension in normal, ACC in sport, Air Con Eco. Might change the steering to Sport though to see how I get on.

Same as above, except steering in Sport and Air Con in Normal.

ajmoir - do you not find the ride on the 19s a bit unforgiving with ACC/DCC in Sport?  Have you got decent roads where you are?  The state of the roads round here, for the majority of day to day driving it would be too bone shaking, I expect I'd stick with suspension on Normal most of the time.
