Superchips bluefin
« on: 28 May 2015, 20:01 »
Has anyone used the superchips bluefin on their GTI? Is it worth doing ?
Just looking at getting my 2011 car remapped , like the idea of been able to do it myself and the option of putting it back to standard ...

Any comments or advise would be welcome..

Thanks

I have been running it for 5 years/50000 miles and have had no issues.

Really improves the midrange pull, sixth feels like fourth

Returning it to standard for servicing you really noticed the drop in torque.

Would highly recommend it.

Agree completely with Mike, a very worthwhile improvement, ran it on my Mk5 (although that was a diesel) for 4 years, and on my current GTI for 18 months, no issues at all, fuel economy has actually improved in normal driving and the performance is great, really smooth. There re other remaps that may give more power, but I am sold on Superchips, their customer service is good.

I got mine for £349 from Eurocarparts, they had a deal on, so worth keeping an eye open.

I've had many cars with Superchips remaps, some Bluefin. Other tuners will give you bigger numbers, but somehow Superchips just feels right. It's like the standard car, turned up to 12.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I'm with everybody else on this Superchips good maps. Never had the bluefin but like the idea of putting the old map back in. I'll be whipped lashed for this but i foolishly over rid the Superchips map for a Revo stage 1 when they had a deal on and stuff your numbers and graphs....Superchips felt better!

The ECU counts each time you flash the ECU and will come up with VCDS so as long as you are happy with that go for it. It provides a useful gain without being OTT like some tuners.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

My Superchips stage 1 only ran 221bhp on a roller I trust and the midrange in meeehh, average at best, but does feel standard, which is ......nice i guess.

My Revo ran 274bhp on the same roller and mid-range is brutal (if you want it). Number dont mean that much to me either, but you can defo tel the difference in 30-50bhp in the mid-range.

It can feel standard when you want it, but if you want a bit of fun and let all hell brake loose then Revo is your map.

I cant knock Superchips, it is what is it. Its a nice linear average map which you can remove when you want.
