sounds like when my oil seals went in the turbo, if you remove one of the pipes after the turbo you'll probably get oil p*ssing out of it.
You can drive it like that but your only going to coat the exhaust in oil and block the cat, its about £200-£250 to get the turbo refurbished and it'll take you a full day/2 days of labour if you do it yourself and haven't done it before.
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

Thought so mate  stupid question but what pipe can i remove as im not clued up on turbo's as this being my first 1, also not worried about cat getting blocked up as i dont have 1  dont really want to spend that sort of money on it as it has 160,000 on the clock so will probs look for a less milage engine or another golf with less miles

I'd suggest one of the intercooler hoses as they at lowest point. Remove the front bumper, to access the intercooler. Those hoses and pancake pipe will likely be full of oil. They run to IC behind osf wheel, I forget if you need wheel and arch liner out or not.

There would be normally a small amount in there after all those miles. If seals proper blown, you're looking for a flood when you pop hose.

Don't chuck in the towel so easy. I'm not familiar with your car or how much money and effort you've put into it, but weigh it up; Few hundred quid on a car you're familiar with or punt it and step into the unknown..... :/

Ours is a keeper at 155k miles, I'm waiting for the day when something goes pop.... When it happens I'm throwing a low mileage engine in. Maybe BAM if I can afford it :D

Personally ive only had it a year and everything its needed it has had mostly vw parts aswell, its serviced regularly (3 times since ive owned it) due to the miles i travel for work got loads of receipts for parts bought by other owners, so its been well looked after, but im just worried that the engine might go not long after.getting turbo done, ive also been looking at the bam engine and seen a complete 1 for £1,500 with full service history and low miles, but ive also been looking at the coupra R aswell  :undecided:, would prefer to do an engine swap but just have no where to do it

Is it cable or fly by wire throttle body? Plenty of low mileage, lower spec engines available out there. I'd settle for another lower mileage aum, or auq for the sake of a slightly younger engine.
BAM for me only if I can find a bargain, or tired example and decide its time I try a diy rebuild....
Is there no forum folk around your way could lend a hand with any work?
