Was quite traumatic tbh, my wife and newborn son were still in hospital so was alone in the house thankfully?? I was woken at 2am on the dot by a bloke going through my bedside table trying to find my keys!!!! I chased him down the stairs but didn't catch him unfortunately, i must've been so tired from being at the hospital all day every day for for a week that i didn't hear them break in through the back doors and rummage through my kitchen! I've got them on CCTV which i've given to the police so hopefully something might come of that? If i'd have just been a bit quicker i could've kicked him down the stairs!!

Scum...

Bloody Hell! This just seems to be getting so common now.
Thank goodness the scumbag made a run for it rather then hitting you with something (or worse) as that wouldn't have been a great way of starting life as a dad. I really think they need proper deterrents to stop scumbags like this just showing complete disregard to others and their property. I appreciate that some people, well an awful lot of people, don't have the best starts in life and don't have opportunities or prospects offered to them in a way that they can see a better future for themselves through hard work and focus, but there's no excuse for this sort of crime.

1) Congratulations James and Mrs Jimble, welcome to the world of "what the hell did I do with all my time before we had kids"

2) Have you got the Touareg already? Has the R gone already? I bet it won't hang about long on the forecourt!

3) Is the Touareg a short term buy then if you're thinking about a GTI & a runabout or will you keep all three?

There endeth the questions!

It seems car crime in the Midlands, especially West Midlands, has reached epidemic proportions. I would respectfully suggest to move to sunny Southern England if one wishes to remain in this country.

1) Thanks! It's crazy how even when you're not feeding/changing/bathing etc your mind is still busy waiting for the next one! Wierd!

2) Yup, already got the Touareg, the R had already got a buyer a fortnight before it was traded!

3) It was never meant to be short term, two and a half years ish until it's warranty ran out but it's a big old thing and sooo thirsty, 15mpg round town!! i do love it but like Rebecca touched on it's easy to just fill it with stuff which is superb for holidays but a bit unrewarding if you're not using the space if that makes sense??

Had a chat with the dealership and they will basically give me exactly what i payed for it against a GTI and a little used runaround for er indoors, so i'm seriously considering it, will need a roof box for longer holidays but the GTI looks ok with one so not a deal breaker. The Touareg is a beast though, it'll show a GTD it's tailights which is pretty awesome for such a big car, straight line only of course!! :smug:

The packs make a big difference to the overall cost though. :lipsrsealed:

A novelty 'on topic' update

Received an email from dealer this morning, which confirms:

1.  Park Park NOT available for R despite showing on configurator.

2.  Tech Pack now available to order on system

3.  Priced at £1240 on GTI/GTD

4.  Priced at £1840 on R

Actual email reads:

"Hi Rebecca,

The Volkswagen ordering system has let us add the Tech pack to your Golf, I have found out when chasing Volkswagen UK that the Park pack is not available for the R or Line models, not sure why.

They have also confirmed the price has been set lower with the factory on the GTi for the Tech pack.

I'm away on holiday, once I am back at work I will confirm the price of your R with the Tech pack".

No 1. makes sense as Park Assist was not previously available on the R.  Still no answer as to why the price is higher on the R! Question nicely evaded

So, I get my Tech Pack but at but am being fleeced by £600 more than you lucky GTI/GTD people   On balance it's still worth it to me to get the pack which gives me DNS Pro for only £370 more

Its not worth it on an R as you will get a larger screen after BW22 anyway - so makes more sense to just order standard nav and Dynaudio for around the same price as the so called 'Tech Pack' on a GTI (and avoid being fleeced just because you have an R.

Spare a thought for the likes of me and who paid full price for that Pro/Dynaudio combination - over 2k :-(

Must be another incentive to get people buying GTI over R (what with the deposit contribution), although I doubt they need to do it for the GTD, still selling like hotcakes to company fleet and private buyers alike. Still unsure why VW have gone down the different pricing route if there is absolutely no technical reason why it should cost more on the R, it just looks like R owners are being ripped off to the initiated.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Congratulations Rebecca regarding the inclusion of the Tech Pack with your order.

In Rebecca's case, she also wants Voice Control which is included with the 8" DNS Pro, but not with the 5.8" or 6.5" DNS models. She will pay an extra £370 over the 5.8" DNS or £420 over the 6.5" DNS (it appears the 6.5" model 'may be' £50 cheaper). So it's pretty good value to order the Tech Pack.

'Good value' - you must be joking? All these combinations are a rip-off in any form  - the R pricing where you are charged 600 more for the exact same thing s basically robbery...
