'Good value' - you must be joking? All these combinations are a rip-off in any form  - the R pricing where you are charged 600 more for the exact same thing s basically robbery...

Compared to buying them separately it is 'good value' but compared to the cost of the same Tech Pack for the GTI/GTD, it is not and is a 'rip-off' of sorts.

I managed to add the Tech Pack to my GTI order last week.

It seemed that there may have been a pricing error but it seems not. While it is a good price for both models and I have benefitted as have gone for the GTI i can't say I agree with vw's pricing. Surely it should be the same price on both models.

Hopefully my car should have a confirmed build week soon which is the most exciting thing hopefully won't be too long

Ok 'less costly' works for me better than 'good value' - lol

Compared side by side with the price for the same on a GTI/GTD, the R Tech pack is going to look like a rip off (which it is in that context). Setting that aside, looking at the R price in isolation and the additional cost to me personally, I think it's worth going for.  Entirely subjective, but I also think the 8" screen will look better than 6.5" and with the inclusion of Voice Command (which I had specced separately), it makes sense.  So decision made.

Mark V GTD, I sympathise with you and anyone who paid full whack for Pro Nav and Dynaudio, Hell, I'd be pretty annoyed about it too, if I'd paid over £2k.  But it is quite usual for changes and options to be added as you move further into the lifespan of a new generation car, so someone is always going to miss out on something somewhere along the line.

Knowing that changes occur was one of the reasons I waited to order an R.  I wanted Dynaudio and was willing to wait for it.  Additionally I never order the first off the line of a new generation Golf or whatever, buying a little way in allows teething problems to become apparent and any fixes or revisions put into place (hopefully).  And during that time, there's much info to be gleaned from on forums so you get to know useful stuff in advance of ownership

Anyway, the Tech Pack it is for me.  Just lucky I didn't have my heart set on a Park pack too

And for anyone ordering the Tech pack on a GTI/GTD at the lower price, good for you, it's.......GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY

Totally agree - I'm not really that upset - I got  good discount on the car and have had it for a year now - the options make it a desirable trade-in or private sale prospect when the time comes...

Glad you're not bitter and twisted about it Mark

Yes, agree your options should make it an attractive proposition when you come to sell or trade-in.

latest news - VWFS giving a 1,250 deposit contribution on the Golf - including GTI But not R or GTD!

So thats basically a free 'Tech Pack' - that, I accept, IS good value!

Anyone with the contents of the tech pack ordered at old prices but not yet built should get some of their money back - anyone here in that situation?
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

They should. But I can see VW Dealers trying to wriggle out of it.
