Changes on VW Configurator - new bundled 'Packs' added

GTD is available to lease at 120 a month plus VAT at the moment - that's a lot cheaper than the R deals.....

Like the one below from CVL with a thumping huge deposit. Looks cheap but it is not.

£129.99+VAT pcm with a £2000+VAT Deposit, 5k miles, 15.39+23, plus a Doc Fee of £150+VAT. With the latter added, it then works out as 16.54+23.

Nice way of fishing in a customer!

It was £119.99+VAT up until recently but they've had a slight price increase this quarter. Its still the cheapest way into a GTD as PCP costs more, and if you bought outright then traded in after 2 years you'd struggle to achieve the same total cost of ownership.

Looks cheap but it is not.

It has gone up a little in the last week - but at 257.00 (inc VAT) average monthly cost over the length of the deal I disagree - thats cheap for a brand new 5-door GTD!

look at in another way - if you bought the same outright car with cash - would you expect it to lose less than 6,168 in depreciation in the first two years?

You could just about do that, as long as you got 12% off it in the first place. £23500 for a 5 door manual GTD > £17500 p/x at 2 years old, or perhaps £19k private sale (if you have the patience, dealerships will be putting them out at around £21k). There's nowt in it though, and you could've been earning money on that cash you put down by leaving it in the bank (but you'd have only lost £4500 over 2 years in the private sale.

Looking at the new brochure there is an icon illustration on page 16 (the 'Tech  Pack' page) which says that the 'sum of individual items' on the R is 1,840.00 and on the GT/R-Line/Match/GTI and GTD is 1,240.00.

This is of course a mistake as they have not allowed for the fact that basic navigation is standard only on GT and R-Line - thus proving the pricing of these Packs is indeed an error....

I wonder if they will correct it.

Trouble is the unititiated won't have a clue!

If you went through it with a fine tooth comb, it's probably littered with mistakes, it is a VW publication after all.  Fortunately I can think of better things to do with my time.

Not really - its very obvious as the icons on p.16 are pretty big and anyone can see that sat-nav is only standard on GT, R-Line etc. If they had not made the point in the brochure of adding up the individual costs the error would not be apparent and would continue to look like a stealth tax on the R - which clearly it is not....
