As soon as my dealer gets back to me i'll let you know Rebecca. I would phone my salesman up again but I think any more of my chase-up phone calls and he'll be putting a restraining order on me.

Thanks Mr Savage.  Haha I know what you mean, I've gone easy on mine so far to maintain the goodwill but that could change   He's more of an emailer anyway.  Well, the race is on now between our respective salesmen

VW always mess this up, having spoken to an Audi salesman today is seems Audi have also messed this up in the RS3

Aw, and I thought we were getting special VW treatment.

High Tech Hannah is just an expression I made up and which rhymes quite nicely.

Ah ha, it was your initial spelling minus the last H which threw me.  Was it too much of a challenge to rhyme something with my real name?

How about: High Techie Becky?

Well, the race is on now between our respective salesmen

Well my man wins, sort of.  Just picked up an email he sent a couple hours ago:

Hi Rebecca,

I have phoned Volkswagen UK to ask them about the Tech pack for the Golf, and why it is more expensive for the R compared with the GTi. I'm not sure why just the GT and R Line models that have the Discover navigation as standard are not at the lower price, as it is a factory option on the other models, so I don't understand why the Tech pack for a GTi/GTD is less in cost than the R.

They have sent an enquiry to product and marketing to find out why this is, once I have heard back I will let you know.

Not a definitive answer yet but all credit for emailing at such an hour, maybe he's reading this forum

The email is worded a little oddly, but essentially the Tech Pack option is priced at £1240 on the GT and R-line models where DNS comes as standard which makes sense, so one would expect the higher pack price of £1840 to apply to both GTI/GTD and R, neither of which have nav as standard.   Anyway, will see what response he gets.  I have replied asking again if I would be able to add the pack whichever price it is.......watch this space.

@Joe,
Ah cool. I actually bought in western motors in Drogeda as they gave me the best trade on my currevt car. It's 152 for me! What are you ordering? I've no build week yet but I expect to be approx BW22. So maybe new screen and maybe not. Hope price home doesn't happen but I understand it might!

Same for me! This will be the 5th car in 10 years I'll have bought off them. They must rub their hands with glee when I turn up every 2-3 years! I priced around, as I've done every time before, and Western always offer me the best price. They know me and my car very well which helps I guess.

I'm ordering an R!! You only live once!

If you ordered 3 weeks ago I'd be amazed if it took until week 22 to get a build. Every VW I've ordered before was built within 7-8 weeks and delivered to me within 10-12. Did your dealer indicate it'd take that long? Irish deliveries have never really taken longer than 10-12 weeks.

I'm also aiming for 152 and I don't really want the car to arrive in Galway a month early. So I'm hoping they can somehow delay the build week a bit.

With a sharper mind this morning, I've stopped mixing my savings and add on costs up to realise that adding the Tech Pack (in lieu of my current standard DNS + voice activation), will give me DNS Pro for a mere £370 more.

It's a no brainer

Nice one Joe, best of luck with that and keep us posted. I'll Defo be watching out for you in Galway.
I've only seen one R on the roads round here. Kevin Connolly sold a lapis blue one. I've a good friend looking for a mk6 GTi. If you are trying to sell yours private let us know. He might stretch to a 132, I doubt it but I'll dedo ask him.

Cheers Damo,
Yeah I am getting a good price for it on the trade in so I'd need strong money for it on a private sale. Also won't be in a position to let it go until June-ish... But if he was genuinely interested in looking at it, I'd be happy to talk! He would not find a better example in the country.
